Found in 2006 through seed capital from the Housing Partnership Network and Enterprise Community Partners to rebuild communities affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Gulf Cost Housing Partnership is a real estate development company that partners with public, nonprofit, and private entities to create vibrant, high quality communities that are socially and economically integrated, affordable and sustainable. GCHP projects encompass 1,866 housing units and the historic renovation and expansion of Café Reconile, which enabled the social enterprise to double its workforce training enrollment and increase revenue generation. One current GCHP project is the Global Green Community Center, a multi-use site development project that will include 5 single family homes, a multi-use community center, Global Green’s New Orleans office, and a retail area for business incubation.
