Asian Americans for Equality

Started in 1974 as a grassroots movement in New York's Chinatown, Asian Americans for Equality is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of immigrant populations, particularly Asian Americans, through community economic development, tenant and minority advocacy, and helping individuals build assets. To date, the group has created more than 700 units of housing, secured almost $250 million in mortgage financing for home buyers, and disbursed $13 million in loans to hundreds of small businesses.
