CDFI leaaders to gather in Washington D.C. on March 1-2

The 2011 CDFI Institute will take place on March 1-2 in Washington, DC. Founded in 1992, the Coalition of Community Development Financial Institutions, through its member organizations, the Coalition represents community development financial institutions working in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. This national network of CDFIs includes community development loan funds, community development banks, community development credit unions, micro-enterprise lenders, community development corporations, and community development venture capital funds.The differences among these different community development organizations are described on this informative table. In addition to traditional Hill visits, the CDFI Coalition will sponsor a Congressional Briefing, for all members of Congress and their staff, at 5 p.m. on March 1, preceding the Capital Hill reception. The preliminary Institute agenda is available here. Expected panel topics include the federal government’s implementation of the Healthy Foods initiative, the new Small Business Administration section 7(a) program, the Community Advantage program open to CDFIs, the multi-billion dollar Guaranteed Taxable Bond Program, and the $300 million Small Business Lending Program, among other topics.
