Founded in the late 1970s, the Fifth Avenue committee to date has developed more than 600 units of affordable housing for low and moderate-income families in over 100 buildings and has brought more than $300 million in direct investment for community development into South Brooklyn neighborhoods. Fifth Avenue's affiliate, Brooklyn Workforce Innovations, a social purpose staffing company, helps more than 750 individuals a year to access decent jobs.
