The new National Community Land Trust Network, incorporated just this past summer, is now seeking to hire its first Executive Director. Application deadline is May 21, 2007.
Officially conceived at a meeting of community land trusts held in Portland in 2005 and incorporated in July 2006, the National CLT Network nonetheless represents a much older movement, one that is gaining increasing prominence as cities such as Irvine and Chicago have turned to community land trusts as a mechanism to preserve affordability in gentrifying markets. CLT Network members include many of the oldest and most durable community land trusts in the country, some of which have been in operation for over two decades. The network aims to support member organizations by providing training and technical support, raising investment capital for land purchases, building public awareness of community land trusts, and advocating for public policies that support permanent and durable access to land for affordable housing and a wide range of community-based needs.
The executive director position will involve fundraising as well as program management and member services responsibilities related to both ongoing technical assistance services and the Network’s annual education and training academy. Salary range for the position is $60,000 - $90,000 annually. Location can be anywhere, provided it is within an hour or so travel time of a major airport in the continental United States, as the job will involve considerable travel. Final salary offered will be based on experience as well as cost of living for the location. Job description is available on the National CLT Network’s homepage.
