Mainstream media focuses attention on benefit corporations

In January, we wrote about how B-Corp (benefit corporation) legislation is catching momentum at the state level, when New York became the seventh state to allow new businesses to incorporate as one. Now B-Corps are catching the attention of the mainstream media – both PBS Newshour and CBS Evening News recently ran informative pieces about the possibilities and potential impact of benefit corporations.

The PBS piece, which can be accessed here, includes an eight minute clip about B Lab, the independent non-profit that certifies these businesses and has helped push this movement, in addition to featuring the following certified benefit corporations: healthy snack producer Revolution Foods, recycled glass countertop manufacturer IceStone, and eyeglass maker Warby Parker.

The shorter two minute CBS segment, which also features Warby Parker and newly registered B-Corp and well-known apparel company Patagonia, can be viewed here (it starts about 20 seconds into the clip).
