Ready, Willing & Able

Ready, Willing & Able is a central piece of The Doe Fund, a nonprofit founded with the mission to help the homeless lead independent and productive lives. Since its start in 1990, Ready Willing and Able has developed four social enterprises: the Community Improvement Project which provides street cleaning services; Pest at Rest, an environmentally friendly and preventative pest management company; Resource Recovery, which collects waste cooking oil to be recycled into biodiesel fuel from more than 1,000 restaurants in New York City;  and Back Office of New York, which provides local business with a range of business services from data processing to market research. Originally developed to empower the homeless, Ready, Willing & Able has extended participation to ex-offenders and low-income individuals. In addition to paid transitional work, Ready, Willing & Able offers case management, education, vocational training, and job placement for parolees. Graduates of the program are 60% less likely to be convicted of a felony within three years of their release from incarceration when compared to their peers.
