Based in Madison, Reap Food Group is a nonprofit focused on building and sustaining a local food system across Southern Wisconsin that supports small family farms and locally-owned businesses, promotes sustainable agriculture practices, and provides community-wide access to fresh, healthy food. In 2014, its Farm to School Program, which brings healthy, locally grown food to schools, served 5,500 students produce from 25 different area farms and worked to integrate local food into every school in the Madison Metropolitan School District. Its Buy Fresh Buy Local Program connected chefs and other food buyers with over 50 local farms and producers, leading to purchases of over $3.6 million in local products. The nonprofit also sponsors about a dozen events a year to provide community members with opportunities to connect to those involved in the local food system.
