The Unity Council

The Unity Council (formerly called The Spanish Speaking Unity Council) has worked with the largely Latino community in the Fruitvale District of Oakland for the past four decades. Its programs, which reach over 12,000 people a year, include affordable housing development, small business assistance, job training, childcare, youth services and senior care. It also owns a subsidiary business (Peralta Service Corporation) that employs area residents on work crews for beautification projects.
