Established in 1987, Washington Area Community Investment Fund (WACIF) provides capital and technical assistance to affordable housing developers, childcare providers, and small businesses in the DC region. To date, the group has committed or funded over 315 loans totaling $24.6 million, leveraging over $150 million in financing for local nonprofits and low and moderate-income entreprenuers. Its loans, programs, and services have helped develop or preserve more than 1,500 units of affordable housing and 44 community-based facilities in the DC region. WACIF has also supported over 1,750 small businesses through one-on-one counseling and trainings.
