Founded in 1988, YAYA aims to empower creative young people to become successful adults. To do so, YAYA provides educational experiences in the arts and entrepreneurship to New Orleans-area children and youth. The organization sells its participants’ art at its gallery, several local businesses and annual fundraiser, and those revenues help support the nonprofit’s operating budget. In summer 2015, YAYA plans to move into a new facility in the heart of Central City that will include resources and programming for Central City residents, a fully-equipped hot glass studio, and a safe, creative community center for Central City youth.
