We are pleased to announce a new intern position at The Democracy Collaborative that will focus on the Community-Wealth.org newsletter and adding web content. For further details, please see the position description below. Remember to submit your applications by August 30!
Intern Responsibilities:
1) Assist with writing responsibilities for Community-Wealth.org, our information clearinghouse for community-based economic development strategies nationwide. In particular, adding new content to our City section of the website (examples can be found here).
2) Assist with our monthly newsletter, which highlights innovations in the field of community wealth building, by writing content and developing layout features. Newsletters are sent out by email and archived versions can be found here.
3) Update content for the website by inputting information on and writing summaries for all new articles and reports as needed. Examples of this kind of work can be found here.
4) Assist with writing blog entries and developing content for new sections of the website.
Expected Qualifications:
1) An interest in the field of community-based economic development. Actual experience not required. (See our “What is community wealth building?” for further information.)
2) Demonstrated excellence in research, writing and communication. (Specifically, having the ability to convey relevant information concisely and clearly.)
3) A willingness to work flexible hours independently and with clear deadlines.
4) 10 to 15 hours/week commitment, including at least one day a week working at our Takoma Park office, just a few blocks from the Takoma metro station on the Red Line
Additional hours are possible depending on interest and available work. An agreement to work for a minimum of one year is required. Position can extend beyond one year by mutual agreement.
