Responsible Endowments Coalition

By educating and empowering individuals on college campuses, the Responsible Endowments Coalition strives to make socially responsible investment the norm at universities. Founded in 2004 by student activists from five colleges and universities, the Coalition expanded to more than 40 schools with combined endowments of more than 102 billion dollars within a few months. To date, the Coalition is working with more than 100 institutions, each campus with its own Committee of Investor Responsibility that oversees the social and environmental impact of that institution's endowment. As You Sow

As You Sow was founded in 1992 and now comprises two programs that strive to increase corporate accountability. The Environmental Enforcement Program seeks to reduce and remove carcinogenic exposures by pursuing compliance with California's Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act. In 1997, As You Sow launched the Corporate Social Responsibility Program (CSRP) to use shareholder advocacy and the financial markets to catalyze positive change within public held companies. Green America

Green America (formerly Co-op America) is a not-for-profit membership organization founded in 1982. Green America has a membership base of over 50,000 consumer activists and 2,500 responsible businesses. Green America publishes the National Green Pages, hosts the Social Investment Forum, and promotes a variety of fair trade and socially responsible investing programs. Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility

For over thirty years the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR), an association of 275 faith-based institutional investors, has been a leader in the movement for corporate social responsibility. ICCR and its members pressure companies to be socially and environmentally responsible. Each year ICCR-member religious institutional investors sponsor over 200 shareholder resolutions on major social and environmental issues. Americans for Community Development is a coalition that encourages the use of program related investments through low-profit, limited liability corporations (L3C) to achieve social goals. The group's efforts helped result in a 2008 Vermont law giving legal recognition to such companies. The Vermont law specifies that companies so designated must further the accomplishment of a charitable or educational purpose, and demonstrate that the company would not have been formed but for its relationship to such purposes.
